CORPORATE IDENTITY

Latvia’s law courts are an independent and democratic power that guarantees rights and justice for all, upholding the interests of the Latvian people as provided by the law. The image of state institutions is associated with the mass media and so with public attention.

Staris developed this prized institution’s corporate identity, which presents a visual image of the modern court system geared towards quality service, resolving functional problems and reflecting the overriding goals of the Latvian courts. The logotype and new corporate style were developed with the goal of building trust in the justice system and positioning its operational functions and guidelines.

The contemporary corporate design is a visual system developed to provide clients with visual tools and guidelines for the flexible use of visual codes from classically state-like through to a contemporary image. The logotype’s meaning is built around the shape (flag, country, security, defence), graphic symbols (scales, the cup of justice, judgement) and an abbreviation (the letter T symbolizes the Courts, a letter which in the ancient alphabets represents the symbol of the cross). In the case of the courts, this link is considered to be positive, as it strengthens belief in the judicial system.
