VARAKĻĀNI
Connecting Roads, Connecting People
VISUAL IDENTITY
Varakļāni is a city in Latvia situated at the historic border between the regions of Vidzeme and Latgale. The city occupies a strategic location at the intersection of three major roads connecting to Madona, Rēzekne, and Jēkabpils. Together with the nearby railway line, this transportation hub has made Varakļāni a historically significant and economically advantageous location.
Beyond its geographic importance, Varakļāni has earned its place in history through the contributions of numerous distinguished individuals - scholars, athletes, priests, artists, politicians, journalists, physicists, and professionals - whose influence has extended far beyond the region.
The city's visual identity reflects the capabilities, determination, and ambitions of Varakļāni people, as demonstrated through their accomplishments. Rather than resting on past achievements, this new identity serves to motivate and unite residents for future challenges, drawing strength from their community cohesion.
The logo's design cleverly incorporates both practical and symbolic elements: three radiating forms represent the major roads from Varakļāni to Madona, Rēzekne, and Jēkabpils, while forming the letter 'V.' These forms extend outward like rays from the city center, symbolizing how the talents and achievements of Varakļāni people illuminate and influence the broader region.
